You are half way to POTD when you have a magnificent specimen of a bird to model for you. But to get to the top slot you need to have the sharp focus and proper exposure to show off the plumage to perfection. Then you need to place the bird one third across and facing towards the centre.

Every photographer who visits the Tynemouth region should have the Harry Tours experience. You get to see the best features of the place.

Wow, these birds are magnificent, aren't they. What an elegant POTD.

Sounds like  you've been having a lot of fun Karen.

Hi Everyone!

What a wonderful POTD!  I could sit and look at that bird for a long time.

Glad the Kettle is still hot!  I'm about ready for a good Cup

I reckon you'd be given the royal tour Pat. It does make a difference being shown around by someone in the know.

Harry, I do plan to give the area another visit as soon as I can get a good slot in my busy schedule and my wife organised. In four week's time my sister-in-law retires from work and will be available to free me up for these longer trips. Perhaps next year would be a good target as this year has three special events planned - including my 60th birthday.

Hi everyone - just popping the kettle on before flying off to work Cheesy
seems like a long week to me, don't know why - been busy at work
- that usually makes the time fly!
Still on our own - Ruth and Rachiie come back late Monday night
so we have easter without them too (also our anniversary).
Have a great day everyone - catch you all later...

Good morning. Well im sad to say, i think winter has come early to the north east Sad Sad But hey just need to get up and on with it.

The kettle is on  Kettle thanks Geoff for doing that earlier. Hot steaming porridge this morning. That inner heat will definately be needed. I have set aside a plate of fresh fruit salad for Chris. Hope its ok for you.
After i came back from Durham yesterday we went down quayside and sat outside piano and pitcher and had a lovely cold beer. Just sat there and people watched. There was 2 guys walking along the roof of the Sage, not sure if it was for maintenance etc. No way could  i even consider it.The rain has just come on very heavy here :(Today i have a family day then going into town later for shopping. So hope it has died down a bit.

I will try and get in later for a spell. Hope everyone has a lovely day.  Smiley

Morning All

Thanks for the fruit Karen - I'm being Very good diet-wise so far, so every little helps.  Smiley
And what a cute squirrel POTD - you've caught those ear tufts just right Jane.

Relieved to say that I'm now back on line! Phew, that was horrible. You just don't realise how much you depend on the internet these days - it's quite frightening really.  Anyway, you'll all be glad to hear that I've been processing all my holiday snaps, so I'm sure I'll be able to keep you entertained for a few months!!!  Grin  Yippee, I hear you all yell!

The sun's out for the moment but looks like rain for the rest of the week and over Easter.

Have a good day folks.
Chris

Jane's POTD is all down to timing and composition. The ground behind is blurred yet in sufficient focus to show that subtle diagonal slope. The squirrel leans away from centre and (crucially) faces towards the centre. The charm of this character is the pair of tufted ears and they stand out well against the darker blurred background.

I think I'm getting old...
I now look forward to a dull evening in.
