Motocross on ice off Wild Goose Point Thunder Bay Lake Superior Sunday.  Not to worry the rider wasn't seriously hurt.

Thanks for looking.

Of course he wasn't hurt (apart from pride perhaps) because they wear padding and body armour that protects effectively. Normally the worst that they get is a broken arm or leg whilst still a novice at falling off.

Thanks for the comments folks.

Well having broken an arm in a motorcycle accident as a teen I wouldn't characterize it as "not being hurt" Smiley.  While some of them wear body armour many of them don't.  The snow is pretty forgiving but other bikes or your own aren't so much and even the "pros" wipe out now and then.  Over the years there have been a couple of serious accidents and more than a couple of broken bones but the latter also happens not infrequently at the mountain biking events I photograph too. Hurling your body around at breakneck speeds is just plain dangerous which is why I stick to photographing it instead of participating Smiley.

An ice biker sans armour Smiley
