Our local rugby team were hosting a 7s tournament recently.
This was my first sporting event shooting in full manual so any comments would be greatly appreciated. The only PP was crop and USM.

Good clear images, plenty of action and color, well taken.

As ever, I put my hyper-critical hat on to look for faults. For the most part I can't find much wrong apart from two minor points which (to some extent) you had little control over:
There are white poles and power lines in the background which make a bit of distraction.
The one picture (which John picked out) has just a bit too much of the person's face blocked by the other player's head.

Other than that I can't fault the pictures. They are sharp, well exposed and cropped tight enough to make full impact of the action. A collection I'd be proud of.

Some great sharp shots. What kit (photographic of course) did you have/use for the session?.
Also you mentioned you were on manual, what was your preferred setting ?
Since your shots are not really near the posts how did you determine your focus, AF or MF.?

My favourite is the handoff one but I would have liked all the defender in the frame.

Well done Thumb Up

300D with Sigma 70 - 300 (@ around 200mm), aperture wide open, AF, I was stood just behind the posts and I set my exposure off the pads on the posts at regular intervals keeping the shutter speed at 1/500 to 1/640 plus shot in burst mode.
Thanks for the interest.

I really like #4.  He has the "who me?" move down perfectly.

Arms low
Palms outward
Look of stunned disbelief

Well done.
