PHOTO OF THE WEEK~August 20th to August 26th

"old clock"

by droll13
Thumb Up

This from droll13 about the image:
"Taken on July 8, 2017, in the early morning. The low sun had risen just enough to clear a fence, avoid a small tree, and somehow shine above the fireplace mantle. I thought that if I got lucky this shaft of light might last long enough to hit this old glass-encased clock and maybe produce a nice golden glow. I knew it wouldn't last long so I grabbed my camera (which I keep attached to a monopod), guessed at some settings and got just a few shots before the angle of the light changed and it no longer made it through the window and into the house.

The clock is broken (I should get it repaired), but it brings back memories - it's the same style I remember my grandparents having back in the 1950s and 1960s.

 Shutter Priority
 1/160 sec
 ISO 1600   "

Yes, I certainly thank the voters who liked the photo enough that it ended up as POTW.

BigAl asked me for some background on the photo he can share, and I PMed him with that. I won't repeat it all here; I'll just say that I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time - as often happens, the lighting conditions lasted for only a minute or two.
