A lovely set from David. I love the “Frosty Trees” for composition and simplicity, and “Sleeping Sleepers” for being difficult to fathom what it is until you read the title. But, for me, the best one is “The Challenger” because of the framing of one stag by the other. Who’d think that the only in-focus subject could have its back to us!

Frosty Trees are nice, but I like Grand Old Tree as well, and both are compositionally spot-on with no extraneous elements. The Challenger is a different view of this kind of match; most are from the side. I wonder which is the challenger and which the defending champion. Besides Sleeping Sleepers' photographic merits it got me wondering how the rails are supposed to be put into these preinstalled clips. The perspective cues in Flower Bike do some strange things to my head, in that I am apparently looking upward at the seat and handlebars but down at the flowers hiding the pedals and wheel axles. And is the bicycle hanging from thee bracket or standing out from it? To me, this image has some of the flavor of an Escher print. In these images, djamdjh has found a way to pique my curiosity and hold my interest. Looks like Big Al agrees.

Scoundrel1728 - your comment 'Besides Sleeping Sleepers' photographic merits it got me wondering how the rails are supposed to be put into these preinstalled clips.' The foreshortening effect disguises the actual shape of the rail chair. I suspect these are sleepers lifted from old track as the chairs are for bull head rail and modern flat bottomed rail uses different shaped chairs. Can David say where he took this shot?

AAAAARRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH this managed to pass me by and I hope you do not think me rude to have not replied (and worse still I was clearing out my gallery and have managed to destroy some of the links which makes me doubly rude).
Thank you for all your comments - every one on them is most gratefully received and I will need to keep my eyes open a little more than I have been on the forum pages.
Suspect this will trigger a few emails (sorry).
Many thanks
Dave (aka dhandjh)
