Yes turned on camera and nothing pressed a button and up comes err cf.

Ten asks me to take out the card and replace then format it, it will not let me format the card or another card even with a new fully charged battery.

Looks like a trip to Stoke on Trent for them to sort it out.

Hi Trevor

Can you reformat the card in a card reader or your computer?

Do you have an older camera that takes the same SD card?

Or do you know someone who has the same or similar camera you can borrow to reformat.
You could go to a camera shop and ask if you can reformat in a demo model of theirs.

Jenny

Just formatted card with card reader still not recognising the card. I have 3 cards and have tried all of them. when I have downloaded pictures I always format straight away with the camera, so all but one are formatted.

Card is a compact flash and my other camera is CD cards. Don't know anyone else with a 7D.

Chocky I have tried that also still no joy.

Will have a ride to Stoke they are Canon repairers.

one, or more of the pins may be bent or snapped ... check the cards to make sure that there is no damage or cracks around the pin housing ... have you tried resetting back to the factory settings?

might be worth trying a shop to try the card in a 7D.

does sound like the card is mort f you aren't having the same issues with the other cards.

look online to check the compatibility with that specific card, it might be that.

Well taken the camera in to Stoke just before lunch. They had a quick look but nothing looked wrong.

Email this afternoon a new set of pins required for the card. Emailed back to say OK do the repair, going on the last time I took it in for repair the day afterwards it was done, so I will probably be able to pick it up Monday / Tuesday.

Yes it's at Lehmann in Stoke. Nothing back yet so either they have a lot of work or it's still in progress.

On the wall in their shop they have a cabinet with a 7D broken down into all its parts, very fascinating.
