"Thank you for your votes and comments. This was quite unexpected and I am sure it was a difficult one for the voters with the other six choices of the daily winners. My kudos to the other candidates, they were all worthy of being a winner!
As to the details in getting this picture, I played around with aperture priority between f22 and f29, and sometimes even higher, using a remote shutter control with the mirror up function of the camera which required me pressing the remote button twice. Exposure compensation varied between +3 to -1.3 as I took pictures at various angles. I used my Tamron 90mm macro lense for all the shots. For the lighting I used the natural light coming through the kitchen door as I wanted it coming in a downward slant rather than from the side besides a window.
In this particular case it was shot at ISO 400, f22, exposure comp at +0.3, with shutter speed of 1 second (if I read the exif information correctly) and "Vivid" picture control. There was a little post processing done and cropping to make it more of a square picture.
Despite the hard kitchen floor it was a fun project. At least I didn't have to contend with bright direct sunlight and wind as I would if it was done outdoors. Going to continue on with this with other types of tulips, the current one with frilly white petals. A challenge I'm finding out!
Cheers all!
Ross".
