Hello all, i need some help.

Today i had an e mail on my web site from a hospitality and event company who wish to do a driver profile and use some of my images.
They have asked at what cost and i`m not to sure what to ask.
I have replayed to there e mail asking what and how many images they need so then i can give them a price.
Really what i`m saying is how do i price something like this.

I`ve had work used before, the last time was by a Motorsport Merchandise company and i got loads of free bees with my image (t shirts, mugs, and other rubbish), work used in books and the odd event program.

Any ideas...

This is all a case of ‘supply and demand’. There is no fixed price for such work and the challenge is to know (firstly) how highly they rate your work and (secondly) how valuable the material will be to them.
If you feel that the photos are just what they want and that they are unlikely to find similar from elsewhere, then you are in a good bargaining position.
If the pictures are then going to be a strong promotional tool to the organization then you can also rack-up the price.
So now, having taken in those factors, it comes down to how keen you are to make money out of this or gain fame from having your work published.

I leave it up to others to suggest a price range but if you supply more background information we might narrow down a price range.

Difficult one, this.  If you quote too low they'll think you work cheaply, and if you quote too high they'll either withdraw the request or try to negotiate lower. Think about how much you would be prepared to pay for the images if you were buying them, and charge accordingly.

Thanks for that BigAl.
It seems to me they need to use images to profile of a certain driver, i do not know which one yet, lift his name, sell a product to gain sponsorship.

Thanks Zoot.

Hi all

Have since found out there for a proposal broacher.

If that's the case then there is likely to be time pressure involved. They may well pay more to get the image before the proposal time comes up and not have enough time to look elsewhere.

Personally, I'd go for £40 and not be greedy for more. Most would jump at that.
What does anyone else think?

Thanks BigAl

That`s good advice. The company work out of Brands Hatch offering hospitality, promote drivers and much more.

They want to use two images.

The advice you gave in your last reply is what i`ve basicly what I`ve done, but instead of asking for money I`ve ask them for my weekend ticket to the DTM (which is the German touring car series) which funnily enough cost £35 for a weekend ticket. That`s for Friday practice, Saturday warm up and Qualifying, and Sunday Race day. My wife and i do the weekend every year it`s been at Brands Hatch.

I`ve made them that offer and now I`ll see if they accept it. I`ll let you know the out come when i find out.

Thanks for your advice and help everyone
