Unable to upload

Hello, I seem to be unable to upload any photos today.  I should have considerable space remaining in my gallery and I've checked to make sure the filenames do not have any special characters and that the filesize is less than 250kb, but still no go.  When I browse to the file I want and then click "Continue", all that happens is that the filename disappears.  Any ideas of what I may be doing wrong?

Well I uploaded ok, check the file size again.

Which program are you using to make the image smaller Kathleen?

Lightroom.  I've been able to upload the past couple of days.  Maybe a reboot is called for.

If your still having a problem if you want you can email me your image and i will resize etc for you and mail back and see if its a size thing or maybe a connection thing with your pc. Let me know ok xx

Weird.
I have photoshop so I can be much help with lightroom, but I guess you are doing the normal things for a resize?

Try making it a lot smaller than you normally would, and see if it will upload. you can always delete it.
Check that you arent just making the physical size of the image smaller, remember to reduce the file size too.

it should be 800 pixels on the longest length.

I rebooted and all is well.  I was able to upload the photo without any problems.  I had tried uploading it earlier, but it was too big so I resized it to less than 250kb and then still couldn't upload.  I suspect I had something in my cache.  At any rate, all is well.  Thanks for your help!

When you first attempted to upload the image that got rejected because it was too big, the details of the filename got logged in the Cafe's record. When you attempted to upload a second time the system assumed that you had already posted the picture once and wouldn't let it through a second time.
If you had changed the (jpg) filename, before uploading a second time, it probably would've accepted it without the need for a reboot.

If anyone is wondering whether or not you could post two images with the same filename the answer is yes - the Cafe makes an amendment to the name of the second and subsequent uploads. This happens in the background and you only see the results.
