I have been in Photography heavily for 4 years but it all came tumbling down monday. i felt it was time to close the door on something that i keep trying to want open. Our business is taking a hit and i need to devote my time to that more then photography. Everything is now gone. I sold it all back to Jack's and i di pickup a P & S sony dsc-hx100v though. Its a lot like my Sony A77. It has a Carl Zeiss lens. Shoots 10FPS has hdr mode as well. So far i'm impressed.
 Not sure when i will be back into the arena like i have in the past but who knows. I just thank God i have at least a camera...

I am honestly looking forward to shooting with this camera. I believe its like owning a DSLR with a built on lens. I am kind of burned out on the camera/ lenses thing anyway. I want to enjoy photography without worrying about which lens to carry around an where my camera bag is..lol. After 4 years of intensive training and shooting i'm ready to simply step back and slow down. This maybe the best therapy for times like this. Photography really became an IDOL to me. It consumed my time like a sponge. So will see where this chapter ends up. i feel it will make a better photographer out of me. I was involved in to many local clubs and internet as well. I have trimmed things back a lot. Photography can be like Christianity. Sometimes you spend more time learning about it rather then experiencing it. Time to experience it more... Smiley

Although I wouldn't go so far as calling the fancy photographic equipment an idol, I would agree that all the features can be more a distraction than a help in learning (and enjoying) photography.  For that reason, I don't normally recommend a dSLR with interchangeable lenses to casual or beginning photographers.  Your having to step back to simpler equipment may actually be good for you photographically.  That is especially true if you truly do rediscover your love of and passion for photography focusing less on an impossible quest for the perfect photographic system, and spend more time on getting the best out of the equipment you currently have - or just kicking back and having more fun with your photography.  There will be time enough to re-acquire the equipment you need when you start outgrowing your equipment.  Meanwhile, I commiserate with you on some of the other side effects of your financial setback.  Believe me, I can relate.  (By the way, I suggest keeping your present camera or one functionally like it even when you can afford a dSLR system again.  I keep a couple of "bridge" cameras around for those times I can't or don't want to schlep my full dSLR system around with me.

The kool thing is there's a lot of accessories i can get for the camera. http://www.digitaltoyshop.co.uk/Accessories_Sony_DSC-HX100V_t2372. Yes i am enjoying it more. Less stressfull with the lenses and large camera to carry around. I'm burned out on it alll and this is going to be more helpful then hurtful over time..

I have been reading this wth interest as having reached the young age of 80 I have been finding a DSLR kit too much bother to carry about when going out for a stroll with the Camera.
 I had already dipped into the m4/3  system with an Olympus E-P1 +14/42 kit lens.
However I wanted to get back to even simpler ways so I invested in a used Olympus 17mm pancake lens.
 This has given me back some freedom & also makes me think more about what I want to shoot. Infact it is like being back to my early days with an Agfa Sillette 35mm film camera.
Recently I was out early for sunrise shots & the some beach shots.
I was delighted with my results.
So enjoy your simplification of photography & heres to seeing som of you resutls soon.  Thumb Up
