Hi Peeps... Just thought i'd share my good news with you all.... Yesterday I passed my Associateship with the RPS... I was told it was a first class panel and had a unanimous vote from the judges, they have also kept it for use in future advisory and assessment days... Well chuffed I am!! This is the panel I put in....

Well done Tina! an Associate Ship is hard to earn & having looked at you panel thro' my Ex NCPF Judges eye It is beautifully put together. The Layout allows tho Images to copliment each other & It is one of the reasons I theink they are going to use it on assesment days. Now the Next step is even harder the FRPS ! but on the evidence of your panel Go for MPAGB or at least the DPAGB. I think you would get a 'D' without any effort with similar work. Try & get to a judging day if you can it is well worth the effort. Harry H CPAGB

Thank you Harry.... Unfortunately they have changed the rules for the PAGB's whereby you have to be an active member of an affiliated club for 3 years before you can do the Dpagb... I've only been a member of an affiliated club for 14 months... however, I will do the CPAGB and DPAGB as soon as I can.... Well done indeed, Tina, what a superb panel! Any thoughts about an 'F'? David Thanks David... Im already starting to think of a subject and have a couple in mind but I'm in no hurry to do the 'F'... stressful enough doing the 'A' lol..... Thanks everyone for the congrats.... Im still on cloud 9 today lol... xx

Very many congratulations, a well deserved award. I debated trying for the L ages ago, but I am not sure I could even get that far.

Well done and congratulations. Start saving up for your FR panel. Did you go to see these put up. It is quite nerve racking. A super effort and I am so pleased for you. Danny

I'm confused (not difficult to confuse me) !! Could someone please set out the levels and tell me what this is? I'm not even sure what the initials stand for.

ARPS is Associate of Royal photographic society. It is just above LRPS.. licentiate of the RRPS and just below FRPS fellow of the RPS. Google it for a better understanding. To gain any of these your photography has to be of a good standard and you must produce a panel of photographs. Danny

Thanks Danny.
Is it strictly a UK based organization?
I wonder how many of our members have this designation?

Yes The Royal photographic society is British although there s also . There is also the PAGB which is the Photographic Alliance of great Britain and some opf us have letters after our names for reaching a certain standard in that organisation. I wonder if Tina would spell out for you exactly whatshe had to do to gain her ARPS. I feel as if I am stealing some of her thunder. Danny

Thanks all....
Branny; Firstly yes I did take my panel on the day and turned out to be the first one up, so although I got nervous at that point I didn't have time for the nerves to build lol....
Pat; RPS (Royal Photographic Society) is a worldwide association from which photographers can gain distinctions for their work and therefore use letters after their name if they so wish.... The distinction is recognised worldwide! Lowest level is Licentiateship... you submit a panel of 10 images fully mounted or on a cd... these 10 images must show a sound knowledge of photography and technical ability and different styles.... Next level is Associateship... you submit a panel of 15 images which must show the same as for an 'L' but must also be within a theme and showing some artistic flare... the printing will also be scrutinised more with an 'A'. Then the final level is Fellowship... 20 images that must be outstanding, themed and in a definite style of that photographer... artistic flare must be apparent! Very hard to achieve....
Hope this clarifies the RPS for you.. Tina xx

Tina, thank you so-o-o much!
I think that there's a place in your profile that you could add that. I think Mikeakabigman had added something to his profile. Not entirely sure.
