"Worship God, because the testimony about Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
Rev 19:11  Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse! Its rider is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a fiery flame, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knows except Himself. Rev 19:13 He wore a robe stained with blood, and His name is called the Word of God.

I have not tried the newer lens, I am perfectly content with my older 50mmf1.8D lens. I heard that the newer lens is designed to work with the newer Nikon's that do not have the internal motor for lens  focusing.

It would be interesting of a side by side comparison; I would not be surprised if the newer lens is sharper!

I found the comment the reviewer made interesting … Weighs more, costs more, and does the same thing.

I doubt it will be sharper ... perhaps any difference between the two would be at a pixel level ... it's a new optical design and will probably have nicer bokeh, less lens flare and better build quality. Use the one you've got till it stops working or falls to bits, replacing a 1.8 for another 1.8 seems pointless

Totally agree with you, I have the older version, it would, IMO ,be hard to better
