Congratulations go to Keith Cochrane for a superb wildlife shot. For the second time this week a young deer makes it to our PotD. This time it’s an action shot with the animal caught moving towards the camera. The light is beautiful providing a halo around the deer and with the pathway providing an effective lead in.

BigAl's Joke of the Day

BigAl is away this week but he didn't want you to suffer withdrawals from missing out on your daily joke so here it is:

I figured out a way to make Death Row a little more fun. Musical electric chairs.'

Here it is Friday again. I hope you're all ready for the weekend. Looks as if we'll be getting some good weather in the UK anyway.

Many Happies to you for today, Chippy!

A fascinating PotD from Mikeakabigman today. The pond weed provides excellent colour and texture especially where it breaks the water surface. The frog itself is superbly sharp and detailed, as we’ve come to expect from Mike, and those air sacs make you look twice and marvel at the creature.

Happy Birthday to you, Alma, I hope you have a great day!

I've enjoyed commenting on our Photo of the Day this week, well done to all the people who've provided these excellent shots. BigAl returns tomorrow.

Well done David, you've done a good job of filling in.  And thanks to BigAl for making sure that we got our daily joke dose. I look forward to my morning groan or grin Smiley

Puts me in mind of wristwatches that also could be used as calculators. One of my co-workers from 1983 had one that he lost in my car.  The calculator buttons were too small to be pushed with the fingers but were intended to be pushed with a pencil point instead.  I couldn't figure out why the tops of the buttons on that particular model were convex though, making it likely that the stylus would slip off the button.

In Mike’s POTD the line of the boats and the lines in the sky give depth to the scene. Those nice reflections are lightly distorted by the ripples to give the sense of movement.

I once worked as a horse trainer. It was a stable job.
