Thanks Jane! I'll check it out. I wouldn't know the first thing about making a book.  Embarrassed

Jane,I had no idea there was such a thing as a digital book! I just viewed your travels to Jordan . You put me right in the middle of it. I really felt like I was there with you. Can't wait to view the rest! You are very talented both at photography and as a historian.

I am glad you enjoyed the Jordan book, it was a wonderful holiday, and the printed version came out really well.

So you did printed and digital? I see. Well, you've done a marvelous job! Good luck with those you do in the future. Busybee thinks I should do a book of my barn photos. I would imagine its a difficult process. Maybe you can tell me more of the details sometime.

             Thanks again for sharing,

It's really very easy.  I use a company called Blurb to print my books,  they provide some free software called BookSmart which you can use to layout your books, you can download it to see how it works, you only have to pay when you actually order a printed book.

Have you thought about making a slide show of the barns and putting it in Audio Visuals?
That would be nice  Thumb Up

Chocky,I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to make a slide show. Not only am I new to photography, but I'm also new to the computer. That's a nice idea Chocky. Now if someone can explain how its done. lol  Smiley

Jane, can you make the digital book without making a printed book as well? Is it very costly to make a printed book? You needn't give me particulars, just a generality. If that's not asking too much of you. If so , you need not answer. Smiley

Yes,  it's generally called Digital Scrapbooking and if you Google it you will find lots of site to help with that.  I sometimes do digital scrapbooking in Photoshop Elements,  but most of the time I use FotoFusion as it's easier to use for laying out pages.

Chippy, Thanks so much!! I'm glad there are those who appreciate my barn photos as plain as they may be. I also love railways, but we unfortunately do not have steam hauled trains around here. I would love it if we did, they have so much character and a mood to them that is so mysterious and beautiful. Thanks for taking the time to view the feature and comment to me. Its very encouraging. Do you have railway photos that you can share in the gallery?

I do post a few and you can see them (and others) in the Trains, Planes and Autos topic in the Forum...

Sheryl
Have a look at some of the slide show in audio visuals

You need to make them on Windows Movie maker or a similar program depending on your PC/Mac

It would take to long for me to explain as I'm hopeless with letters and spelling but it's great fun

some really nice images here Sheryl ... especially like the "Down the Lonesome Track" image. As Jane says Lightroom is a nice program if a little expensive (for what it does in my opinion) and maybe Elements 9 would be a better option, or the full blown version of Photoshop if you win the lottery ... mind you you can get the the full version of photoshop CS5 extended for less than $200 (£169 in the UK) if you can meet Adobe's eligibility criteria.

Thanks Sheryl, I'm off on a steam hauled excursion next Saturday so hopefully I'll have a pic or posted here In the meantime, here's another old B/W shot from the 60s.  It is taken in the Lake District near a famous area called Shap Fell - quite a steep haul and you can the the banker engine pushing at the back of the train.  Shows how much traffic there was in those days on the A6 - that's our Morris Traveller stopped on the inside lane while I took this shot...Those were the days...

A terrific shot Chippy!! I just love seeing all that steam. And mono is my favorite medium. You got a great capture with that banker engine working so hard too. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see more in the future. Wish we had steam engines around here! Smiley

Thanks Seven_Wishes for viewing the feature. I do love the railways. The expense is what's holding me back from getting a better photo editing system. For now I'm getting the new camera and lens, next stop better a better editing program.  Smiley
