It is the composition element that makes it for David's POTD. From the simple lines of the mooring ropes to the line of boats in decreasing size, there are features which give depth to the scene. The foreground, though dark, has all the detail to show texture.
He said to me... How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper? I said to him... I don't know; it's never happened.

Good afternoon everyone
Although it's a lovely day in South Devon, it's still a bit chilly with a wind coming from a generally easterly direction and high pressure on us. It really does feel as though spring is beginning to establish itself at last.
Thanks to everyone who voted or commented on my frosty beach shot. I'm intending to get up early again tomorrow although I haven't yet decided where I might go for a dawn shoot. It's always good to be out and about early and then get back home for a second breakfast!
See you all later in the gallery to see what's in store for tomorrows crackers list.
David

Today's POTD is all about texture. You can almost reach out and run your hand across those chains. By cropping in close, the image takes on an almost abstract look.
He said to me... Why is it difficult to find men who are sensitive, caring and good-looking? I said to him... They already have boyfriends.

Shooting into a glorious sunset, the light on the water provides the link between the foreground rock and the sky. Tina has exposed the shot to keep the detail in the dark cliffs and the rich colours of the sunset. Notice how the bigger rock is offset to the left to balance the coastline on the right.
The final one of my "He said, I said" jokes: He said to me... Why are married women heavier than single women? I said to him... Single women come home, see what's in the fridge and go to bed. Married women come home, see what's in bed and go to the fridge.

Some hare-raising votes yesterday (OOOh awful pun Alan) brought the amusing poser to the POTD slot. The image has perfect focus on the whole of the hare and a DOF that drops out the far and near grass at the right points. It is so sharp you can see just how damp the hare is. But, for me, the real selling point of the image is the humour.
A minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump. "Reverend," said the young man, "I'm so sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip." The minister chuckled, "I know what you mean. It's the same in my business."

Thanks for the Birthday wishes, I had a nice day, as my Sister and her family joined us for lunch.
