The Judges of the Cafe Choice Award are pleased to announce the presentation of this highly rated award:

is awarded to member

LES F

for his image

"ONE UP and ONE TO COME"

From the Judges:

"Lesís image was taken in evening sunlight at Curbar Edge in the Peak District. One climber sits on the pinnacle while the second makes his way up.

This is a picture that sums up the battle of man against the elements and the isolated climber and the space around him show that off to good effect. The countryside beyond is lit up by that evening sun which also rim lights the bare-chested climber.

It is an unusual image. You may see shots of the countryside from elevated viewpoints, you may see shots of climbers perched atop rocky crags but to get them both in one shot makes it special.

Congratulations Les!"

This is an image that I could gaze at for a very long time.  I love viewing the distant little village and the climber's outlined body is exceptional.

Congratulations, Les.

Beautiful image, I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't me perched atop the rock   Cheesy

Congratulations Les

Something about this image just really calls to me.  I'm not sure what it is.  I just like this picture.  The lighting is great, highlighting the climber and with the soft lighting in the background it amplifies the distance.  The climber is beautifully in focus.  The warm tones are nice and all the tangents/angles just add tension which is nice because it kind of makes up for the fact that you can't see much of the rock the climber is on.  All in all...I like it.  Smiley

It's a wonderful shot and I know Les has done well with it this year as I saw it in the magazine section of the Sunday Times. Congratulations on the award Les.

The only thing I don't like about this picture is the feeling of double-envy it invokes. Not only do I wish I could get such a nice image I also wish I was up there with that wonderful view.

Uh oh Al...yeah, that much envy isn't good for your record right before Christmas!  Grin  Don't want Santa giving you any more coal than he might already be planning on giving you for having bought all that Nikon kit.
