Wow you talk about set backs. I had to sell the camera i have been waiting for to pay the Mortgage so because i lost my 5d mark2 and had to settle for a crop camera. There was no way i was going to stay with Canon so i got a good deal on my canon gear and went back to Nikon. I was able to purchase a Nikon D7000 and a 70-300vr new for 1589.00. then i got a Tamron 17-50 f2.8vc used and a tamron pro 1.4x teleconvertor used as well. So i'm still taking photos and plan on always being true to Nikon. Sorry Canon better luck next time

I've tried to research the Nikonian religion, but with little success so far.  Are they that ones that have women priests?

Are you SURE it is the Make of Camera that is the problem??
These days no manufacturer could survive if their gear was bad!
I have  Nikon, Olympus, Lumix, Canon, Voightlander, Fuji & have enjoyed them all.
It Comes down to  " A  little of what you Fancy---"
or " Go On give it Try"
At least we get to talk to each other & That has never been argued against.

Note I have a couple of poor cameras in the Early Film Years, but  digital is  not a real problem  IT IS Usually ME!!! Grin

yes i once again broke away from the Canonite tribe and now feel comfortable with the Nikonians... The Nikonians seem to building a larger Tribe settling in Japan now world wide. Our for fathers stretch way back to the days of Nippon Kogaku K.K but finally after many wars we became Nikkor in 1932. There was much unrest but we worked our way into England then migrated across the great seas to the Americas where we were known as ( THE NIKONIANS USA ). Today we have this unrest as being known as " THE DARK IMAGE SPIRITS"

Some people see the Olympus E-500 as big and chunky - it's actually smaller and lighter than a Nikon D80, and is a far better camera all round...

Really?  When I was shopping around for a system, I rejected the Olympus system, particularly the E-500, because of its poor performance at high ISO when compared to Canon and Nikon, something that was important to me because I often shoot indoors without flash.  Finding fast affordable lenses in four-thirds mount was also problematic at the time.

Well i did it again but this time because of 2 reasons. 1 being camera shake and the other wanting a camera i could shoot from the hip. Jacks made it possible so i switched over to Sony but before i did that i had to have more value for the trade. I was on craigslist and i traded my D300 and sigma lens for a Canon 50d with only 4400 actuation's on it. Plus a Tamron 28-75 and a tamron 18-270 lens giving me more to work with the trade. I also had to part with the Nikon 80-200 lens ( that hurt). In exchange i got the Sony A77 & a 85mm f2.8 prime lens. and it didn't cost me a penny. Then i needed some lenses so i can choose any lens from the Minolta Maxxum camera. Someone was selling a 28--85 f3.5-4.5 & a quantaray 70-300 and some other things for 80.00. This will be sufficient until I'm able to get the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and a sal 11-18. I have been wanting to get this camera for sometime now. I have a bad shake in my left arm @ times and am hoping this will help out. I use the tripod most of the time but am leaning more towards street photography.
