Well after months of deliberating i finally crossed over. From Canon to Nikon. After reading the reviews on the Nikon D300 and also the difference between Canon and Nikon I chose Nikon over the 40d. Nikon does better in low light situations. Also along with my D300 i got 1. Tamron 28-105mm F2.8 lens ( AWESOME) the other is a prime Nikon 85mm F1.8 lens and the cream of the crop 80-200 f2.8 lens Nikon.

Rev 19:11  Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse! Its rider is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a fiery flame, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knows except Himself. Rev 19:13 He wore a robe stained with blood, and His name is called the Word of God.

Good decision there. I have no knowledge of the 40D but the D300 is a great camera. My only concern is that Canon users can be mean when scorned and it might be wise to think about a change of identity and moving away from where you have been living.

you make it sound as though your offering an apology for coming to your senses finally....
There is no shame in finally stepping out of the closet and embracing the wonderful world of Nikon.
If you have saved any " old " other make camera in your switch you might as well throw it away now as you will never willingly pick up another camera after using the 300, yes its so good. I kept my 70 " for emergencies "  any one wish to buy it ? I'll brush off the dust....

I must admit that I am a Closet Nikonian and that if I had the money to buy the high end range cameras and lenses, I would be up the front waving my flag in the Proud to be Nikonian parade. Cool 2funny

Does any one want to buy a Nikon D80 and a Nikon D300, loads of lenses and filters. You see I'm thinking of changing to Canon because I hear so much about them from Canon owners. I'm not sure which one I should buy but it probably doesn’t matter as long as I get one of those big white lenses.

Only joking! 2funny

Roll Eyes  As far as I can remember David, you've already crossed over.  What was that compact you bought recently?   Tongue
