Karen...you aren't much on vegetarian food are you.  2funny  The vegetarian bacon stinks.  There is a really good veggie sausage though that I like.  Smiley  I wasn't vegetarian when I was over there, but I'm back at it now.  Kind of hard when you are the only one in the family who is, but aah well.

Im not a vegatrian Sara, but i will do some research and make sure i have some extra options. My daughter once brought home a friend who was a veggie, so i went out my way and got her some nice food in etc so she felt comfy at the dinner table. When served she asked if she could just have pasta and tomato sauce..........lol  tickedoff

Jane's POTD is almost hi-key (only the stalk falls below 128 brightness) and that semi-bleaching of the petals gives a delicate look to the flower.

King Ozymandias of Assyria was running low on cash after years of war with the Hittites. His last great possession was the Star of the Euphrates , the most valuable diamond in the ancient world.
Desperate, he went to Croesus, the pawnbroker, to ask for a loan. Croesus said, "I'll give you 100,000 dinars for it."
"But I paid a million dinars for it," the King protested. "Don't you know who I am? I am the king!"
Croesus replied, "When you wish to pawn a Star, makes no difference who you are."

Good morning cafe people. A wee bit of a dull start to the morning bu ti have been assured that the sky will turn blue. (fingers crossed). Hope this finds you all in good spirits. As of Friday at 1pm havoc descends upon this household. The schools up here finish. The kids will be home hyper and excited and LOUD 2funny 2funny (note to Karen (remember the paracetamol) ) 2funny

OK this morning something entirely different to try,

"Fat-free Apple Cinnamon Smoothie "

A great way to get some fiber in the mornings! This easy vegetarian and vegan fat-free breakfast smoothie is great because you don't have to spend time chopping any fruit - just blend away! A great fat-free breakfast or summer smoothie recipe for hot days. Fat-free apple smoothie recipe .
Ingredients:
2 cups applesauce
1 cup apple juice
1 cup orange juice
2 tbsp honey (omit if vegan)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Preparation:
For a healthier fat-free smoothie, I recommend using a natural applesauce that doesn't contain any added sugar. Read the label to make sure.
Place all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth. Serve immediately, or keep chilled until serving time. Garnish with additional cinnamon, if desired.

recipe courtesy US Apple Association
There is the usual beverages and fruit scones as well. I hope you all enjoy.

Have a lovely day everyone. Smiley Smiley

Don't you just love it when you can predict the POTD winner 10 hours in advance. The splash of red in Ian's photo is the obvious thing that pulls the eye. Note the use of empty space to allow the bird to be facing towards the centre of the picture. See how the whites and blacks all retain the detail that is in perfect sharpness.

Evidence has been found that William Tell and his family were keen on playing ten-pin. However, all the Swiss league records were unfortunately destroyed in a fire, so we'll never know for whom the Tells bowled.

Morning all.
I just boiled the kettle and arranged the cups - off work today -
but like a bear with a sore head!!  - This is Black Friday for me
the worst day of the month in terms of my shift cycle - despite being
off. It is the peak of tiredness and bleareness - so sorry if the cups are
not straight.
There's a Tern up for the Books!! 2 POTD's in a row with those Tern photos -
well done Ian!!
Will try to look in again later - actually got quite a 'full on' - 'off day'

Good morning. Tis' a Friday. The sun is shining and the week end is about to begin. I hope for those who are off this week end they have something good planned. It is the Gala Day in the next village to here on Saturday. Hazel is driving the carriage for the queen. Last year she was footman. But this year she is the driver. I hope the weather stays good for her.

OK, syrup scones this morning and for those on a health kick, i have prepared fresh fruit salad. I see Geoff has the mugs all lined up, "OR HAS HE"  2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny I definitely think the bleariness has set in.  2funny Anyway feel free to come up and Eh! try to get an upright mug Cheesy Please enjoy.

Congratulations Ian on another great POTD.  Thumb Up Thumb Up

Have a lovely day everyone. Smiley

See how Ian has got the timing and shutter speed just right on the POTD. The wings show the motion of the wings yet the head and body are caught in frozen state to give all the detail. The tail feathers are nicely exposed so that the outline is visible in a subtle way against the bright sky.

A man rushed into a busy doctor's office and shouted, "Doctor! I think I'm shrinking!!"
The doctor calmly responded, "Now, settle down. You'll just have to be a little patient."

If only for the title alone, Les's POTD is a winner. The horizon is balanced by two subjects (one bright and one dark) either side of centre and the foreground wreck is linked to it by the converging lines in the rock base. Wonderful retention of detail in the bright pixels is maintained whilst keeping detail in the blacks in all but the places that don't matter. A magnificent image.

Back in the 1800s the Tates Watch Company of Massachusetts wanted to produce other products and, since they already made watch cases, they used them to produce compasses.
The new compasses were so bad that people often ended up in Canada or Mexico rather than California.
This, of course, is the origin of the expression, "He who has a Tates is lost!"

Thanks for choosing this image as today's POTD I know its similar to a cafe choice by VintageRed (by the way he is a friend of mine) but it's a shot or series of shots I have been after for a couple of years, although the clouds could have been better and the colours in the sky after the sun went down but you have to work with the conditions dealt you. This is my fourth time at this location and the only time I have come away with something I am reasonably happy with, its still not the shot I am after but because of tide times etc that will need to wait for another year I fear but least now for several trips here I have something.

ROTFL...thanks Karen for the vegetarian option breakfasts!  I don't eat breakfast regularly, so if you can just add them in once in a while that will be fantastic.  Grin

The "Rivelin" POTD is a good example of the use of shutter speed on moving water. It was slow enough to get motion blur and give the sense of the powerful flow but fast enough to give a hint of the direction of movement. The ferns provide a good foreground to lead into the scene.

A thief broke into the local police station and stole all the toilets and urinals, leaving no clues.
A spokesperson was quoted as saying, "We have absolutely nothing to go on."
